Volcanoes National Park

Volcanoes National Park was extended into Rwanda from Congo by Belgian in 1929; Belgian Colonial Authorities was also responsible for managing and run the Park. In 2005 Rwanda introduced “Kwita Iziina” an annual new baby gorilla naming ceremony to boost gorilla population in volcanoes National Park. Besides that, the park is a home to a few of the remaining Mountain Gorillas and endangered golden monkeys. The National Park is located northwest Rwanda in Musanze province (Ruhengeri)

Gorilla trekking experience

Mountain Gorilla are the most endangered species in Rwanda, they live in the slopes of  Virunga volcanoes, Volcanoes  National Park is a home to over 400 gorillas for trekking experience. Each Gorilla trekking permit costs $1500 in Rwanda. Obtain from Rwanda Development board (RDB)

Golden monkeys trekking

Golden monkey are rare species categorized among endangered primates. The habituated golden monkeys are two with about 80 troop members living in the bamboo vegetation at extreme base edge of Volcanoes. A single trekking permit cost $100 and only a small group of 8 people are permitted on daily basis to trek them for memorable experience.
