MWEYA SAFARI LODGE
Mweya Lodge is a beautiful lodge built on a wooden decking with thatch roofing. The wooden arches really blend this Lodge into the local environment. Its entrance is very impressive with a sculpture of an enormous, lifelike elephant. Visitors are greeted at reception by warm, professional and friendly staff. A massive pane window allows for a fantastic view of the Kazinga Channel, on Lake Edward.
The Lodge has 25 standard rooms, all en-suite, fitted to world class standards. The rooms have mosquito netted curtains, high pressure hot showers, a powerful ceiling fan and a veranda that offers a spectacular view of Kazinga Channel. In addition, there are basic rooms that overlook Lake Edward and of course the Presidential Suite.

The pool area is truly magnificent and surrounded by wooden decking. You can overlook the Kazinga Channel and view the herds of buffalo, elephant and kob, as well as hippo. Lunch can be ordered on the poolside along with ice cold refreshments: the service is efficient.
Meals are served in the Kazinga Channel Restaurant, dinner is a la carte, and otherwise a buffet is on offer depending on occupancy. The a la carte menu consists of an array of cuisines; from Italian to Indian to continental to Ugandan, the food is delectable. The three-course meal is extremely well presented. There is a wide range of wines, ranging from Italian, French and Spanish. The options are many.
After dinner drinks can be enjoyed in the cozy Tembo Bar or outside around a huge log fire. In the Tembo Bar, a massive fireplace is on hand and ready to be lit should the temperature drop. The comfortable chairs and the peaceful ambience make for a relaxing time. One can listen to soft background classical music that complements the setting.
The Tembo Bar is equipped with huge windows which offer in the day time an impressive, 270-degree view encompassing Kazinga Channel, Lake Edward, and in clear view the impressive Rwenzori Mountains, otherwise known as “mountains of the moon.” You can also see The Virunga Mountain range which runs from northern Rwanda to The Congo. In the Mornings, visitors are woken to birds singing sweet songs, and melodies. Warthogs can be seen visiting the rooms, bar and balcony areas at dawn and dusk and allow you to get really close in order to take good pictures.
