Tourist activities: Murchison Falls National Park

Game viewing:
Plenty of game exists on the Buligi, Albert and Queens tracks north of the river Nile. Ensure you are accompanied by a guide because they know the best places where to spot these animals. Expect to see Lion, Giraffe, Uganda Kob, Elephant, Hippopotamus, Leopard, Warthog, Lion, Pangolin, Civet, Buffalo, Hyena, Crocodile, Oribi, Patas monkey, Uganda Kob, and baboon.

Sport Fishing:
Sport fishing is possible below and above the falls. Fish in the Nile includes Nile perch, Tilapia and Tiger fish. Nile Perch and Tiger fish provide an exciting experience for anglers. The genus alestes is the most commonly caught fish and weighs about a pound in weight. On top of the falls, tilapia, Nile perch, barbell and cat fish are most commonly caught.

Bird Watching
A variety of unique birds make a visit to Murchison Falls a must for every birder. The dry woodland after the Paraa Safari lodge is a good place for Shikra, Red-throated Bee-eater and Grey-headed Kingfisher. As you proceed on the northern bank, you are more likely to see Secretary bird, Tawny and Martial Eagles, Red-necked Falcon and Carmine bee-eaters. Hornbills are common sight in the Borassus Palm Savanna and the gaudy Abyssinian roller. The area around the Buligi junction near the Nile in the papyrus edges is a common place for the rare shoebill, Swamp flycatcher and blue breasted bee eater. The short grass adjacent to Lake Albert is a favorite place for Caspian, Black-headed and Senegal plovers. Close to the Nyamsika cliffs expect to see Swallow-tailed Bee-eater, Greater Honey guide and Nubian Woodpecker.

Launch Cruise in the Nile
Expect to see plenty of water birds, hippos and crocodiles on the side banks of river Nile as you enjoy your launch cruise

Nature Walks:
Murchison Falls offers the visitor the opportunity to go on foot while exploring the wild. Trails around the top of the falls may start right from the bottom of the falls hiking up to the top of the falls so as to get close to the narrow gorge through which the river explodes through a 7meter gap between the rocks. In Rabongo forest, guides can help you explore the forest in search for primates such as Monkeys, baboons and occasionally chimpanzees.

Chimpanzee tracking:
Chimpanzee tracking activity can be done at Kaniyo Pabidi forest which is on the Masindi-Paraa road, 8km from Kichumbanyobo gate
